New cellphones include characters for swearing

(China Daily)
Updated: 2007-01-12 08:54

Hong Kong parents and educators have expressed concern over the inclusion of swear words in some cellphones' character databases.

Some new models of cellphones sold in Hong Kong have added characters to input popular slang, including swear words with sex-related connotations.

One parent observed that the swear words in cellphones will inevitably influence the children, and cellphone producers should think about their social responsibility.
