Senior CPC official starts visit to Slovenia

LJUBLJANA - Li Changchun, a senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC), arrived in Ljubljana on Friday for an official goodwill visit to Slovenia intended to strengthen relations between the two countries.

Li, a member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Central Committee Political Bureau, conveyed sincere greetings and best wishes to the Slovenian people in a written speech issued upon his arrival at the airport.

Hailing the remarkable achievements of bilateral ties in recent years, Li said to further develop China-Slovenia friendly cooperative ties meets the fundamental interests of both countries and peoples, and was now facing new opportunities.

Li said he expected to meet with Slovenian leaders on bilateral ties and other major international and regional issues of common concern, and hoped to consolidate friendship, enhance political trust and bilateral cooperation through the current visit.

Slovenia is the third leg of Li's five-nation tour that also takes him to Armenia, Romania, Kenya and Mozambique.
