BEIJING, September 4 (Xinhua) -- Newly-paired Guo Zhendong/Xie Zhongbo of
China struck an unexpected gold in men's doubles to achieve hosts' sweep for all
the five titles on Sunday at the conclusion of the inaugural badminton China
Masters.
To a roaring home crowd, the unseeded duo put up a spirited fight and
overpowered Malaysian veterans Choong Tan-Fook/Lee Wan-Wah 15-10, 15-4 in the
final.
It's the Chinese pair's first title ever since they were partnered merely
last year.
Earlier in the afternoon, the hosts had already clinched the other four
titles.
Lin Dan and Zhang Ning won the men's and women's singles respectively. The
women's doubles crown went to Chinese youngsters Du Jing/Yu Yang, who beat 2001
and 20003 world champions Gao Ling/Huang Sui. Top-seeded Zhang Jun/Gao Ling
routed Hendry Kurniawan Saputra/ Li Yujia of Singapore in the mixed doubles
final.
