Japanese media on Monday expressed dissatisfaction with Japanese players' performance on the Winter Asian Game just concluded in Changchun city, where the Japanese team finished with 13 golds in basket, a big drop compared with its achievement on the Aomori Winter Asian Game in 2003.

The media were especially disappointed on the results from ice items. Top Japanese players got six medals on fast track skating, only one third of that on the Aomori Game.

From the world class viewpoint, the Japanese team could only get 50 points on the 100 points basis, the Mainichi Shimbun quoted official of the Japanese team as saying, adding that the prospect for the Japanese team on the 2010 Winter Olympic in Vancouver is not optimistic.

The newspaper pointed out that the enterprise-based training institution for players is limited.

Citing Chinese players' training experience in Canada, some Japanese sports officials said Japan should learn from China and build up its own training bases overseas.
