The "cross-Straits" third-seeded pair, having first played together as teenagers, overcame an early fall behind and surged back to win the game 2-6, 6-3, 12-10, winning their first Western & Southern Open doubles title one month after the Wimbledon triumph.
Peng of China and Hsieh of Chinese Taipei were in trouble early, dropping the first set, 6-2, but they came storming back to take the second set, 6-3, and built quadruple match point in the match tie-break, 9-5. They missed those four and another at 10-9, but they got sixth time lucky to win 2-1 at Lindner Family Tennis Center.
